Design Alliance - Celebrating You #2

I started with interior design about 8 years ago. My first projects were staging properties to help homeowners prepare their houses for sale. Soon after, in my first year, clients started to ask me to help them with their interior design dilemmas.

Since then and 100+ projects later, I have been helping homeowners to create their “dream space,” investors to remodel properties and real estate agents to stage properties for sale.

The Design Challenge
This house was new construction and all of the finishes were builder’s standard. We needed to give the room an identity and personality.

The Objective
To create a warm and contemporary space where my client could sit comfortably, read a book and have a cup of coffee or chat with friends. We called it “the tea party room.”

The Lesson
Utility is one of the keys to identity—defining what the room will be used for. Architectural details—in this case, paneling—bring depth and personality to the space, while color adds warmth and pulls the room together.

Products from Design Alliance

Throughout my career as a designer I have used Design Alliance for fabrics, floor covering, furniture, window treatments and accessories. For this room I selected Duralee fabric for the drapes and did a custom upholstered sofa with velvet fabric. The chairs from Flores Design are microfiber blue fabric. These were the key elements that pull the room together.
